What is OSPF-OSPF Routing Protocol क्या है ?

Open shortest path first (OSPF) एक link-state Routing protocol है जिसका उपयोग source and the destination router  के बीच सबसे अच्छा रास्ता खोजने के लिए किया जाता है। link-state routing protocol एक प्रोटोकॉल है जो ट्रिगर किए गए अपडेट की अवधारणा का उपयोग करता है, OSPF एक Open Standard Protocol है | इसका मतलब ये हुआ की आप अपने network में किसी भी vendor का router यूज़ कर सकते है। ये protocol सभी vendors के routers के साथ काम कर सकता है। इसलिए आपको जरुरी नहीं की आपके network में सभी routers Cisco के हो।

Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)  प्रोटोकॉल को एक Large Autonomous System or Routing Domain के भीतर पैकेट को स्थानांतरित करने के उद्देश्य से  Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) के द्वारा Developed किया गया है |  यह एक नेटवर्क लेयर प्रोटोकॉल है जो प्रोटोकॉल नंबर 89 पर काम करता है और AD Value  110 का उपयोग करता है। OSPF Normal Communication के लिए Multicast Address 224.0.0.5 और नामित राउटर (DR) / बैकअप डिज़ाइनर राउटर (BDR) के अपडेट के लिए 224.0.0.6 का उपयोग करता है।

Criteria –
To form neighbourship in OSPF, there is a criteria for both the routers:

• It should be present in same area
• Router I’d must be unique
• Subnet mask should be same
• Hello and dead timer should be same
• Stub flag must match
• Authentication must match

OSPF messages –

OSPF को Operating करने वाले राउटर के बीच Communication  के लिए कुछ Message का उपयोग करता है जो Details में नीचे दिए गए हैं |

• Hello message –यह Neighbor Router की discovery /recovery के लिए उपयोग किए जाने वाले Live Message  हैं हर 10 सेकंड में इनका आदान-प्रदान होता है। इसमें निम्नलिखित जानकारी शामिल है: Router I’d, Hello/dead interval, Area I’d, Router priority, DR and BDR IP address, authentication data.
• Database Description (DBD) – यह राउटर का OSPF रूट है। इसमें AS या क्षेत्र (रूटिंग डोमेन) की टोपोलॉजी शामिल है।
• Link state request (LSR) – जब एक रूटर DBD प्राप्त करता है, तो वह अपने DBD के साथ इसकी तुलना करता है। यदि DBD को अपने DBD की तुलना में कुछ और अपडेट मिले हैं, तो LSR को उसके पड़ोसी को भेजा जा रहा है।
• Link state update (LSU) – जब एक राउटर LSR प्राप्त करता है, तो वह LSU संदेश के साथ प्रतिक्रिया करता है जिसमें अनुरोधित विवरण होता है।
• Link state acknowledgement – This provides reliability to the link state exchange process. It is sent as the acknowledgement of LSU.
• Link state advertisement (LSA) – यह एक OSPF Data Packet  है जिसमें  Link-state Routing Information, शामिल है, केवल उन राउटरों के साथ साझा किया जाता है जिनमें समीपता का गठन किया गया है।

OSFP Timers 

• Hello timer – The interval in which OSPF router sends a hello message on an interface. It is 10 seconds by default.
• Dead timer – The interval in which the neighbor will be declared dead if it is not able to send the hello packet . It is 40 seconds by default.It is usually 4 times the hello interval but can be configured manually according to need.

OSPF Tables

OSPF Protocol तीन तरह की Table Maintain करता है

• Neighbour Table-Neighbour table में सरे Directly connected routers की List update होती है |

• Topology Table –इस topology में Network के  structure की लिस्ट update होती है

• Routing Table-Network के सरे possible best Path routing table में update होते है |

Advantages of OSPF Routing Protocol 

• Both IPv4 and IPv6 routed protocols
• Load balancing with equal cost routes for same destination
• VLSM and route summarization
• Unlimited hop counts
• Trigger updates for fast convergence
• A loop free topology using SPF algorithm
• Run on most routers
• Classless protocol

Disadvantages of OSPF Routing Protocol 

OSPF के कुछ नुकसान हैं जैसे,

• It requires more memory to hold the adjacency (list of OSPF neighbors), topology and routing tables.
• It requires extra CPU processing to run the SPF algorithm
• It is complex to configure and more difficult to troubleshoot.
